Come to the Celebration of Old Roses! This event is happening on Sunday, May 18, 2025 from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This is a fantastic opportunity to discover the amazing beauty of the Heirloom Roses. These are the roses your grandmother grew in her garden. If the variety of bloom and the beauty of color does not grab you, then the fragrance will! Besides viewing the numerous tables of display roses, you will be able to purchase many heirloom and hard-to-find rose plants. There will also be vendors selling perennials, crafts, books, and jewelry, all inspired by roses.
Children are welcome! Activities are planned the young ones and each child will receive a FREE rose plant (while supplies last!).
Everyone is welcome! This event is sponsored by the Heritage Roses Group Bay Area and admission is FREE!
The event will be held at the Albany Memorial Building (1325 Portland Ave) at Carmel. To get there, from north or south, take Hwy 80 or 580 to the Albany exit, go east to San Pablo Ave, then turn left to Portland. Turn right onto Portland and continue until you reach Albany Memorial Park at Carmel.
The Heritage Roses Group Bay Area has sponsored the Celebration of Old Roses for over 40 years! Led by our founder Miriam Wilkins, the HRGBA was born when several like-minded Old Rose lovers gathered to share their knowledge and love of these beautiful plants that were slowly becoming extinct. This group of Old Rose enthusiasts wanted to share all the information they had gathered with others and the Celebration was born. Additionally, they created a quarterly Rose Letter and a more locally focused, bi-annual, Old Rosers’ Digest that are shared with members. For those who might remember: before coming to Albany, about eight years ago, the Celebration of Old Roses was originally held at the El Cerrito Community Center.
