I started with the company on St. Patrick’s Day in 1981. Having come from the construction industry in Maryland, working as a driver back in the late 70s, I took a job with my wife’s uncle that brought me here to Raleigh, North Carolina. A small mom-and-pop plant stationed in a sand and gravel pit with only three mixer trucks. This (pictured) is what the first truck I ever drove looked like.

I keep this photo as a reminder of where I came from. I have always loved driving; it allowed me to meet people. Driving was the most fun. It was a blast; it gave you a freedom. I know Raleigh so well, I can give anyone driving directions in my sleep.
