Bakers Centre, an open-air retail shopping center in Philadelphia (https://www.shopbakerscentre.com), invites the community to a fun-filled “End of Summer Festival” on Saturday, August 17th, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the center’s parking lot. Visitors will enjoy carnival activities such as free games, cotton candy, popcorn, snow cones, face painting, and balloon animals. A live art show sponsored by JD Sports will showcase the talents of South Korean mixed-media artist Jason H. Lee as he creates a large-scale portrait of Allen Iverson, the legendary basketball player who played for the Philadelphia 76ers, part of his “Sneaker Portrait” series of public figures like Michael Jordan, Travis Scott, Virgil Abloh, BTS and Blackpink that has inspired and engaged audiences worldwide. Throughout the event, there will be musical performances by talented local artists and a live DJ from Radio One as well as giveaways and food samples from Bakers Centre tenants, including Wingstop, Wendy’s, JD Sports, Planet Fitness, Get the Look, and T-Mobile. A custom art station will offer personalized t-shirts and book bags created by artists from the youth art community IDEA Center for the Arts. And a number of lucky event attendees will receive back-to-school giveaways that include free backpacks, water bottles from JD Sports, and essential school supplies provided by Shop Rite (limited quantities available while supplies last). This event is free and open to the public; pre-registration at https://bit.ly/3StCtsh is requested, but not required. For more information, visit https://www.shopbakerscentre.com/events/bakers2024.
