John Marshall High School Dance Team Future Rockettes Camp

The 2023-24 John Marshall Dance Team is excited to host your child at our Future JM Rockette Dance Camp. Kids will learn techniques and a dance routine from the JM dancers and coaches. The routine will be performed at the All City Showcase at 1:00 (right after the clinic), along with Just For Kix studio and the Rochester high school competition teams: John Marshall Rockettes, Mayo Spirits and Century DT.

Who we are:

We are a Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) competitive dance team that competes in two dance styles, Jazz and High Kick at the Varsity and Junior Varsity levels. We are comprised of dancers 7th-12th grade in the John Marshall boundaries. 

Why choose this camp:

The dance camp is a great way to introduce your child to what high school competitive dance is all about, especially for the older kids that will be able to try out this spring for the 2024/25 season. Watch for tryout information on JMDT social media/website.

The event is a "Brown Bag" event. A snack will be provided, but please send a sack lunch along with your child. Nautical Bowls (https://nauticalbowls.com) will be on site and available to purchase in lieu or in addition to the brown bag. Please provide a refillable water bottle. Please have child's name on all items.

Who can participate:

All local children currently in grades K-8 and children that will enter K in 2024 school year are able to sign up. No previous dance experience is needed. Participants do not need to be future JM students. All local kids can sign-up.

What to expect:

Attendees will be grouped by age and be led by JMDT members, learning stretching and warm-up techniques and dance skills. They will learn a routine to be performed at the 1 pm showcase, play games and crafting while bonding with current Rockettes. Brown bag lunch will be just before performance.

What to bring:

1. Bring a water bottle labeled with your child's name

2. A brown bag lunch labeled with your child's name or Nautical Bowls will be on site and available to purchase in lieu of or in addition to the brown bag

What to wear:

• Please come with neat hair in a bun or pony tail if hair is long.

• Wear black leggings or pants and dance shoes or tennis shoes.

• Dancers will wear the T-shirt for their performance, so send them in a comfortable top for practice. 

$50 per child fee includes:

• 1 T-shirt (if attendee signed-up and paid after Jan 11, 2023 t-shirt will not be guaranteed to include event screen printing). This will be worn at the showcase performance. Additional T-shirts may be available for purchase at check-in. 

• 1 adult ticket to All City Showcase, which includes Dance Camp routines and performances by JFK, JM, Mayo and Century Competition Dance Teams.

• Snack

• $10 discount for any additional siblings signed up for this event
