Food Truck Thursdays in the Ravinia District in the City of Highland Park will celebrate peace, love, and tie-dye with a special themed night on August 17, from 4:30-8:30 PM with live music by Grateful Dead cover band Railheart, and children's entertainers, Ben Tatar & The Tatar Tots. Attendees are invited to come out dressed in their favorite hippie attire to dance, groove, and vibe the night away with the entire family.
Participating businesses throughout the Ravinia District will give out white bandanas throughout the week of August 14 to children to tie-dye on August 17. Families then are encouraged to bring their bandanas back to the tie-dye booth at Food Truck Thursdays across from the music area at Grateful Dead Night. Limited bandanas are available, so stop by participating businesses to get yours in advance. A limited number of bandanas will be available at Food Truck Thursdays. No other items will be allowed to be brought in to tie-dye on-site.
Of course, besides the groovy theme, alfresco diners are invited to experience various food offerings and drinks from more than a dozen rotating food trucks every week on Dean Avenue. Guests can enjoy beer, wine, and specialty cocktail selections from Ravinia District restaurants Abigail's American Bistro and Ravinia Brewing Company.
Food Truck Thursdays are a summer staple within the community and will run through September 28, 2023. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs or dine at one of the many picnic benches in Jens Jensen Park while enjoying live music (weather permitting) from 4:30-8:30 PM (June-August) and 4:30-8 PM (September).
