What does a costumed singer have to do with feeding the hungry and helping those in need? Find out! We want you to be a part of The Salvation Army’s Second Annual “Unmasking the Singer” competition.
We will be live and in-person on Saturday, October 21 at Hoyt Sherman in Des Moines. Local celebrities will be hidden behind a mask, and perform songs for the crowd leaving everyone trying to guess who’s behind the mask. The event is hosted by Lou Sipolt with guest judges West Des Moines Councilwoman Renee Hardman, Comedian Willie Farrell, filmmaker Brent Roske, Director and Founder of Starts Right Here, Will Keeps, and our year one winners of Unmasking The Singer, Castor & Pollux. Also known as Leigh McNabb and Heather Lee from Des Moines Radio!
The goal is to raise at least $50,000 to provide a boost to The Salvation Army’s programs and services, including our new Mobile Social Service Center bus. These programs have seen an increase in individuals and families needing help in the wake of COVID and the continuing rise of inflation. Our mission includes feeding families who are struggling to pay bills, help with rent or utility assistance so they don't have to face the possibility of becoming homeless, and to work with individuals and families trying to escape poverty and create a better life for their children through our Pathway Of Hope.
We take our mission seriously, but we also want to bring the community together to have some fun while raising money. We hope you’ll join us in Doing the Most Good for those in need. If you would like to get involved, or have questions, please get in touch with me. If you are unable to sponsor but would still like to attend, Tickets are on sale now!
