The Premier San Diego Half Marathon!

The 41st annual Americas Finest City Half Marathon is run on a fast, scenic, point-to-point course. The race starts at the historic Cabrillo National Monument at the tip of Point Loma with its world-renowned vistas of San Diego Bay and the Pacific Ocean, follows scenic San Diego Bay and Harbor Island along the Embarcadero to the Star of India, winds through downtown San Diego and ends in beautiful Balboa Park.

The 26th annual America's Finest City 5K (3.1 miles) race is a fast loop course that starts and finishes within Balboa Park, in front of the Hall of Champions at Pan American Plaza and Presidents Way. The course winds through beautiful Balboa Park, passing by the Museum of Man, crossing over the Cabrillo Bridge and finishing just past the Spreckels Organ Pavilion.

AFC is recognized as one of the country’s top half marathons and is the third and final race in the Half Marathon Triple Crown. Last year the event drew runners from 46 states and 18 foreign countries. There is also a 2-day fitness expo and race day finish line festival with live entertainment and a beer garden!

The half marathon will start at 6:30 a.m. and the 5K will start at 6:15 a.m.

Due to permitting restrictions, there is a 3-hour time limit to complete the half marathon. (13:44-minute-per-mile pace).

Participants who do not reach North Harbor Drive and Harbor Island Drive (6.3 miles) by 90 minutes after the race starts, will not be permitted to do the Harbor Island section of the course (approximately 2 miles) and will instead be directed to continue on the route to the finish line.

There is a 1-hour time limit for finishing the 5K. All participants must be able to maintain a 19:21-minute-mile pace or faster throughout the event.

Both the half marathon and 5K time limits are based on chip time, meaning the time limit countdown begins the moment the participant's timing chip passes over the start line timing mat.The time limit is necessary to ensure the health and safety of all participants as the public roadways must be opened to normal traffic at specified times and closed to participants. Participants exceeding the time limit pace may be asked by race staff or San Diego Police Department personnel to take a shuttle van to the finish.

PLEASE DO NOT ENTER THE HALF MARATHON OR THE 5K IF YOU DO NOT EXPECT TO FINISH WITHIN THE TIME LIMITS.

Wheelchair competitors must contact info@inmotionevents.com for qualification and registration instructions.
