It is with a heavy heart that we announce the April 26, 2020, La Jolla Half Marathon & Shores 5K will not take place as planned. The safety of our participants has always been our number one priority and the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the current landscape of health and safety dramatically. We must follow the recommendations of the CDC and government officials to not hold this race in person. We have switched all registered participants to virtual participants and will be mailing packets with a race shirt, medal, and cinch bag directly to you in late April. Not sure what a virtual participant is? Learn more here.
After a year’s worth of preparation and planning, we know how disappointed we are and can only imagine how disappointed you are too. You've put in the miles and made sacrifices to train and prepare for this race. If you are able, we’d love for you to tag us in your photos or use hashtag #lajollahalfmarathon or #hillsschmills so we can celebrate each other’s accomplishments virtually!
If you're Crown bound, don't worry. Anyone who completed theCarlsbad Marathon or Half Marathon in January and registered for the La Jolla Half Marathon will automatically be Triple Crown eligible this year. Anyone who completed the Surf Sun Run 5K in January and registered for the La Jolla Shores 5K will automatically be SoCal 3x5eligible. You will not be required to upload results because of these special circumstances. We are also leaving the virtual registration category open for anyone who has been planning to complete one of these series’ but hasn’t registered yet.
We appreciate your patience and understanding during these unprecedented times.
