2020 Tour of the Moon

159 Main St, Grand Junction, CO 81501, USA

DESCRIPTION

Due to CODVID-19 and gatherings, we have temporarily suspend registration for the 2020 Tour of the Moon for now. We’re not saying that the events won’t occur by any means or that we don’t remain hopeful, but as the permitting waters grow cloudier, we can’t, in good faith, allow you to register until we receive more definitive answers from the governing agencies.  Please stay tuned in the next few weeks, as we will find out better information.

DATES: September 25-26, 2020

Roll Massif Tour of the Moon takes riders up and through the unique landscape of the Colorado National Monument. After exiting the Monument, riders may elect to tackle a 64-mile through the beautiful farm country and surrounding areas of Fruita or opt for the classic 41-mile classic loop back to Grand Junction.

Note that the Colorado National Monument requires all cyclists to have front and rear lights as the road through it features three, unlit tunnels.

Colorado National Monument
The Colorado National Monument, (a unit of the National Park System) requires all cyclists (regardless of whether they are in a cycling event or on their own) to have a white light that is visible from a distance of at least 500 feet to the front and a red light that is visible from at least 200 feet to the rear. The Monument has 3 tunnels, bored through solid rock, that does not have lights, thus the reason for the safety requirement. Also, all cyclists and support vehicles are required to use the lights in the three tunnels (you may turn them off once you’ve exited, but for your safety we would advised to leave them on during your ride). If you do not have lights, you can purchase a light set (front and Rear Lights) for $20 when you register. Also, Federal policy requires cyclist to ride single file in the Monument. We encourage all participants to ride in a safe manner while enjoying the beauty that the Monument offers.
