DESCRIPTION

NOTICE OF RACE

DATE: May 11/12 2024

LOCATION: 

Cultus Lake Sailing Club, Campsite B.  Foot of Sunnyside Blvd, Cultus Lake, BC

RULES: 

The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.

COVID PROTOCOLS: Competitors will be expected to comply with any current Covid protocols that may be in place at that time. 

H17/ H20 competitors using dimensionally similar sails (no square-tops) manufactured by Whirlwind Sails shall not be protestable by a competitor, the race committee, or the technical committee.  This changes RRS 60.1(a), 60.2(a) and 60.4(a).

RRS 40.1 shall apply at all time while racing.

CLASSES: 

Open to all Hobie classes.  Current HCANA membership is required for crew or skipper. Proof of Liability Insurance is required

                                   

ENTRY FEE:

One-person boat $60                         

Two-person boat $85                                     

Online registration and CC payment is available at www.cultuslakesailing.com    

Non-Hobie classes and non HCANA members may join the regatta but are required to pay a temporary membership fee of $30 to participate. Payable during online registration or onsite. 

 SCHEDULE:

 Registration will be from 0800 to 1000 hours Saturday, May 11

A Competitors meeting will be held at 1030hrs on May 11

The first race shall be at 1200 hours Saturday, May 11

 No sequence shall be started after 1530 hours on Sunday, May 12

 

COURSES:

Standard Hobie Courses will be sailed.

SAILING INSTRUCTIONS:

Sailing Instructions will be available online by May 6. Check the CLSC website.

PENALTY SYSTEM:

For all classes, rule 44.1 is changed so that the Two-Turns penalty is replaced by the One-Turn Penalty.

SCORING:

When 4 or more races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score. One race shall be completed to constitute a regatta.

RADIO COMMUNICATION:

Boats may carry radios, however, except in an emergency, a boat that is racing shall not make voice or data transmissions and shall not receive voice or data communication that is not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile phones.

 RISK STATEMENT: RRS 3 states: ‘The responsibility for a boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue to race is theirs alone.’  By participating in this event each competitor agrees and acknowledges that sailing is a potentially dangerous activity with inherent risks.  These risks include strong winds and rough seas, sudden changes in weather, failure of equipment, boat handling errors, poor seamanship by other boats, loss of balance on an unstable platform and fatigue resulting in increased risk of injury.  Inherent in the sport of sailing is the risk of permanent, catastrophic injury or death by drowning, trauma, hypothermia or other causes.

PRIZES:

Prizes will be awarded as deemed by the Organizing Authority.
