Join us for a 5K to Benefit Puerto Rico presented by Run Hope Work on Sunday, October 1st at 8:30am. PLEASE NOTE THE NEW LOCATION. The run will start at Banneker Rec Center at 2500 George Ave NW Washington, DC.

A donation of $25 or more will grant you entry into the run and a Puerto Rico bandanna! Funds raised for this event will be donated to rebuilding the Island of Puerto Rico following the recent destruction from Hurricane Maria via Friends of Puerto Rico.

Friends of Puerto Rico recently announced a task force of the diaspora and friends of Puerto Rico to enhance the reconstruction of the communities affected by Hurricane Maria. The task force will take care of providing the necessary help to those affected by this catastrophic natural phenomenon through a relief fund. For more details about this initiative and information about the mission of Friends of Puerto Rico to serve communities on the island via the diaspora and local organizations, please access www.friendsofpuertorico.org.

Although we request that you register online, on-site registration will be available. If you plan to register on-site please arrive by 7:30am. Registering online will save you time and create less of a hassle for you on the morning of the run. If you register online, please arrive by 8am to receive your bib and Puerto Rico bandanna.

Please be aware the trail is open to the public and there may be other walkers, runners and cyclists to share the trail with. Thus, those wishing to walk the 5k are more than welcome to.

We ask that you come dressed in your best Puerto Rico pride attire! A face paint station will be available near the start line and the sounds of the pleneros will be playing!

You may also donate more than the $25 participation fee when registering for the run. On the registration page there will be an option to donate to Run Hope Work. Please note that these funds raised will be sent to Friends of Puerto Rico as well.

Run Hope Work is a non-profit organization that uses fitness, mindfulness, professional development, and construction apprenticeships to bring stability to the lives of at-risk young people.

Please help spread the word, join us for a great event, and help us help all those in Puerto Rico!

An email will be sent to all registrants the day before the run with this information as well as parking info and other updates.
