What to expect:

You will not be required to wear a particular uniform, nor will you need to know advanced movements, tactics, land navigation, communication, etc. Though these are helpful to know and practice, this event is meant to give new players an opportunity to ease into airsoft milsim gameplay.

Unlike standard games, which are round based with different objectives; this event is what we consider a "skirmish" game, where there are multiple objectives for a single game that will last throughout the day with a pause for lunch and hydration as well as a report on how the game is progressing.

RAMPART ALPHA, ROCKS(2023)

The location of the event is within national forest land at Pike National Forest, which features terrain that is a little more difficult to navigate than most players may be used to. Footwear with firm ankle support is recommended. There are no structures, so players will have to consider the variations in terrain and the abundance of foliage to provide cover, concealment, and strategic areas to control.

The elevation may affect your maximum effective range and how quickly you become winded or tired from continuous activity. It is recommended to take things slowly and strategize ahead, as there are not many places where you will be able to run quickly and easily, and you will want to conserve your energy for when you need it!

As for gameplay and objectives, these rules will be explained again at the event, but will be kept simple enough to remember without the need for taking notes. A briefing of the game rules will be made available prior to the event here on this page.

The boundaries of the AO (Area of Operations) will be marked with high-vis yellow rope to help keep players within the boundaries of the play area and away from areas such as off road vehicle trails, roads, and properties.

GAME RULES:

Story:
An arms dealer has orchestrated a solution to two problems. First, one client group has not paid their invoice. Second, stock is too short to fulfil two client orders. The solution? Pit the clients against one another and sell to the survivors!

How to play:
Two teams (Yellow and green) will fight for control of the AO (Area of Operations).
Each team has a FOB (Forward Operating Base) on each side of the AO. The FOB is marked by a flag of each team's color with an eagle on the pole. There are 3 contestable zones in the AO. Both teams fight to control all 3 zones by placing their team's flag, found at the zone, into the cone. Once all 3 zones are controlled by one team, that team may then attempt to take their FOB flag to replace the enemy FOB flag with to win the ultimate objective: total control of the AO!

Alternatively, both teams are also set with a limited number of respawns, marked by red tags worn by each player. When a player is hit, they will be in a "bleed out" period of 5 minutes. This means that a hit player stops in place and waits to be revived, confirmed, or time expires to respawn. It is highly recommended to have a timer function watch or phone available to track your 5 minutes! During this time, they can have their time extended by a team mate maintaining contact with that player until a medic arrives to put a blue tag on them to revive the "bleed out" player in place, or; an enemy player can "kill confirm" that player on "bleed out" by taking all red tags that player has, ending their "bleed out" early and sending that player back to their FOB to get a new red tag and respawn. If one team runs out of red tags at their FOB, it is up to the survivors to down enemies and collect their tags and bring them back to their FOB to keep the fight going. If all players on a team are eliminated, and there are no more tags to respawn with, the game will end.

In the event one team wins half way through the day, a second round will be played, resetting the objectives, and teams will swap sides. If a second early victory occurs, the day will end with simple rounds of alternate game modes.

These rules will be thoroughly explained during the briefing at the event, so don't worry if you are confused or have questions here, as you will be given the opportunity to ask them then!

Rampart Range Road and Pike National Forest has a long standing established relationship with the airsoft community. The park rangers are aware of our presence and deal with calls reporting "militants training in the woods" on a regular basis, and let the public know that we are just airsoft players having fun. On occasion, we see a park ranger come out to check up on us to make sure we are in fact just shooting bb's at one another and respecting the agreements established. No permit is required to come together and enjoy a day of slinging bbs at one another, so long as we adhere to their simple requirements regarding respecting the park and safety standards. Ie; cleaning up all trash we find and bring in, keeping 200 feet from all roads and offroading trails, using biodegradable bbs only, no sound devices or pyrotechnics, no shooting animals or uninvolved persons, respecting the land and properties, etc.
