Join MarineLab's biologist/instructors in an exploration of the marine communities in the Upper Keys. Days are spent aboard our boats, snorkeling the seagrasses, mangroves, and coral reefs protected by the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, Everglades National Park and John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. All workshops are content oriented and are designed for the middle and high school science teacher. However, all educators, naturalists, and others with an interest in the marine environment, 21 and older, are invited!
This program takes our Coastal Marine Ecology program a step further. Various field research methods and techniques are taught and practiced during the snorkeling field trips. The Advanced Water Quality Lab and Diversity Indexing Lab, coral reef ecology with Bleachwatch, seagrass ecology with surveys, mangrove ecology with soil analysis, and REEF Fish Surveys are all part of this advanced program. Teachers receive a link to a google drive with all content related to the workshop.
This $100 reservation is a deposit on the workshop. The full fee is $550 and includes meals and accommodations. Please go to MarineLab Teacher Workshops for itinerary and details. The deposit is refundable at any time; the balance will be collected via PayPal invoice prior to arrival.
