DESCRIPTION
The Carlsbad 5000 presented by National University is a full day of road racing and running festivities on the seaside streets of Carlsbad, California.
This iconic event features individual 5k races for all ages and abilities, from the youngest runners in the Junior Carlsbad to the World’s Fastest Elite Runners. The post-race experience features the Health & Fitness Expo and the legendary Pizza Port Beer Garden where friends and family celebrate with music and entertainment.
The course features nearly two miles along the Pacific coast with an exciting, spectator-friendly finish in the heart of Carlsbad Village!

JUNIOR CARLSBAD
- Kids Ages 4-12
- 1-Mile or Half-Mile Distance
The streets of downtown Carlsbad will come alive on May 22nd, with the legendary Junior Carlsbad! Kids ages 4-12 race against the clock in a 1-mile or half-mile distance on the famed Carlsbad 5000 course. Family members line the barricades to cheer on these amazing young runners crossing the official Carlsbad 5000 finish line. After the kids finish, families stick around to witness the world’s fastest elites attempt to set national and world records on the same course later that day!
ALL DAY 20K - SOLD OUT
Runners collectively run a total of 20 kilometers by participating in the following four combined 5k events:
- All Day 20k Race 1 - Masters Men (5k)
- All Day 20k Race 2 - Masters Women (5k)
- All Day 20k Race 3 - Open Men (5k)
- All Day 20k Race 4 - Open Women (5k)
In addition to everything included within the 5k registration package, All Day 20K runners will receive:
- All Day 20k Race Medal

- Exclusive access to the All Day 20k Pre-Race & Recovery Zone sponsored by Lyric
- Pre-Race & Recovery Zone is a designated area for All Day 20k runners to use before, in between, and after their four 5k races - Runners will have access to Lyric massage & recovery equipment, food, fuel, & drinks, and private bathrooms. The designated area will contain a secure Gear Check to store personal items throughout the day.
