Congenital Heart Warriors Walk

DESCRIPTION

This Valentine’s Day, give the true gift of love and support for those affected with congenital heart disease!

The Canadian Congenital Heart Alliance (CCHA), a registered charity, will be hosting a Congenital Heart Warriors Walk on February 13th 2016 in support of Canadians born with heart defects. Congenital heart disease (CHD) is the #1 birth defect, affecting an estimated 257,000 Canadians. Alarming statistics have shown that 1 out of every 100 babies has a congenital heart defect. The number of children now surviving into adulthood is being referred to as a “tsunami” and adequate medical and social resources to support these “survivors” just does not exist.

The walk will be held in Abbotsford BC at Mill Lake Park, Shelter #4 off Bevan Avenue where the red play ground and train are located. It will start at 10:30am and finish at 1:30pm. It is a beautiful scenic walk along a fully flat paved walking path around a lake that houses many ducks and birds. One loop around is 2.2km and the park consists of 3 different playgrounds and many benches along the way to rest at if required. The walking path also accommodates strollers, wheelchairs and walkers for those who require them but still wish to join.

There will be beverages and a light snack provided with each registration! The CCHA will also provide a small gift of appreciation with each paid registration. There will be a fun light interactive warm-up, demonstrations, games and heart balloons. Hopefully more to follow!

Adults $25

Children 10 yrs. and under are FREE!

Additional donations are greatly appreciated, and those over $25 will receive a tax receipt! Come out with the whole family and enjoy a leisurely scenic walk while making a difference and supporting a great cause.
