We are pleased to announce the first annual Community River Float on the South Fork of the American River in Lotus, CA. Join Diversify Whitewater, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that works to share the beauty of paddling with Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC), and allies.
Participants will have the opportunity to go whitewater rafting, which will be followed by a wonderful lunch and a raffle with a ton of awesome prizes. Join us for a day of splashy fun on Monday, July 15 in Coloma, California. We will be meeting at Henningsen Lotus Park at 9:30am -- please plan to carpool because parking is limited. Shortly after we will embark on an adventure down the Gorge section of the South Fork of the American River. We will raft down accompanied by professional volunteer guides - guides who are beyond thrilled to show you all down the river! We will raft 10 miles down a mixture of class I, II and III rapids, and end our day at Folsom Lake. From here, a bus will pick us all up and drive us back to Henningsen Lotus Park.
This event is free for all participants! Our goal is help share the beauty of whitewater with BIPOC families and allies. If this is you, register now! This event is brought to you by your community members Lizbeth Torres and Thao Uyen Nguyen in collaboration with some spectacular organizations such as Outdoor Adventures at UC Davis, Environmental Traveling Companions and PUENTES in Santa Cruz.
Space is limited, so please register today!
