In less than one week we will all be networking together! Here's a quick note to stoke excitement and highlight our program for Wednesday evening. We look forward to see everyone join us for Entrepreneurial Social & Craft Beer Night virtually or in-person on the 16th.

What excites you the most about this event?

Based on your feedback from the registration form, here's what everyone is excited about the most: A fun night of networking, fundraising for ONFE/JA, understanding how things happen, helping a good cause, getting to meet like-minded professionals, see people again, BEER and TACOS!!, expanding my network, student engagement, In person networking - YEAH!!!!!, talking to humans, fireside panel, getting together with ppl who like to problem solve.

Event starts at 6:00pm EST, please show up on time ready to enjoy this fun filled night of networking, entertainment, and of course tacos and craft beer! Upon arrival you will be greeted by our amazing volunteers from the JA community, newcomers in Ottawa, and event helpers. If you are joining us virtually, please follow the instructions outlined in the confirmation email to log into the virtual networking platformThe Fireside Panel starts at 6:30 EST sharp.

Networking takes place all evening long. At 8:00pm we have DJ Acie Entertainment joining us to keep the party going 🎶 🔊

Donations from this event go towards helping Ottawa Network for Education - Réseau d’Ottawa pour l’éducation and #JAOttawa engage volunteers to teach entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and work readiness skills by giving students real-world tasks like goal setting, building a personal budget, exploring career pathways, and working with a team to start a small business. 

In celebration of Women’s History Month, the panel will feature these amazing female entrepreneurs 👉: Suzanne Grant, CD (Executive Director at Capital Angel Network), Sharon Nyangweso (CEO of QuakeLab), Kamal Dhanoa (Entrepreneur, #PassionForTheGreaterGood) and Shannon Ferguson (Co-Founder & CEO of FanSaves).

The awesome Jason Daley will be moderating the panel, and he too will be sharing his extensive experience in entrepreneurship and the art of start-ups.

The Ottawa Network for Education (ONFE) is a charitable organization that collaborates with partners from education, business, government, and the community to develop enriching programs for K-12 students. Working with the four public school boards in Ottawa, ONFE supports children and youth in English and French.

FIRESIDE PANEL

Moderator Jason Daley
Entrepreneur + Startup advisor + Community builder + Early stage investor … that is quintessentially Jason Daley. He was the former community lead Youth Ambassador for Startup Ottawa and is a current Advisory Board member for Junior Achievement Ottawa. Currently, he is part of the Canadian team for Consilience Ventures and VP of Carleton University’s Alumni Association where he mentors young entrepreneurs at the Innovation Lab.

 

 
Panelist Suzanne Grant
Suzanne is a passionate champion for Canada's startup ecosystem connecting entrepreneurs with opportunities and capital. She is an advocate for the under-estimated and taking the path less followed. Suzanne is an experienced entrepreneur, having built multiple successful businesses in Canada and abroad.  She is a veteran having served as an engineering officer in Canada's  airforce and army and is currently Advisory Chair for the Youth Company and Principal of STEAM Suite.


Panelist Sharon Nyangweso
Sharon Nyangweso (She/Her) is the CEO of QuakeLab, a full-stack inclusion agency that uses design thinking to move commitments to equity from aspiration to action. Sharon is an immigrant from Kenya and has worked with organizations in 11 countries, in varying roles including social advocacy and innovation, and community building.

 

 
Panelist: Kamy Dhanoa
Entrepreneur with expertise in Business Development/Sales/Marketing. With over 20 years of diverse industry experience, she has led market research projects for global Fortune 500 clients, co-managed Edmonton’s Innovation Research Park accelerator program, a former Board Director at ICOBC and Economic Development officer at World Trade Centre Edmonton. Today, she lends her expertise to new venture startups.  #PassionForTheGreaterGood.

 

 

Panelist: Shannon Ferguson

Shannon currently leads the growing team at tech startup FanSaves, as Co-Founder & CEO. Being an entrepreneur at heart, Shannon's strong social skills and positive attitude have always been a winning formula for success. Matching her skills in sponsorship sales, marketing and advertising with her love of entrepreneurship helped her co-found FanSaves in 2017. Shannon is a 2021 Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI) fellow and is also the co-host of The Living the Startup Podcast.
