Fred Jones Memorial Bicycle Ride

1368 Fulton St, Brooklyn, NY 11216, USA

DESCRIPTION

Join us on this inaugural edition of the Fred Jones Memorial Bicycle Ride on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at 8 AM. This event was previously scheduled for late August but was postponed due to conflicts arising from Hurricane Henri. We are now pleased to combine forces with the 39th Annual Restoration 10K Run/5K Walk to make a great day of fun and movement even better.

This FREE 35-mile bike ride, inspired by the late Fred Jones personal training rides, takes cyclists through Brooklyn and Queens mostly following bike lanes, greenways and bike friendly streets. We start at Restoration Plaza in the heart of Bedford-Stuyvesant and cruise through the waterfronts of Red Hook, Dumbo, Williamsburg, the green spaces of Prospect, Forest and Highland Parks and the historic Stuyvesant Heights district on our return. The ride culminates at the plaza of the Restoration complex.

The Fred Jones Memorial Bicycle Ride (FJMR) is being presented in memory of the late Manifred Jones, to celebrate his life and service to the cycling and Bedford-Stuyvesant communities. Additionally, we pay our respects to all our neighbors we lost to COVID-19. We invite everyone everywhere to help us celebrate our city’s reopening with a fun day of movement and re-engagement with our communities.

The FJMR is also pleased to present a FREE Kids Learn to Ride Class on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at 10 AM - 12 PM. The class will take place at Restoration Plaza. This class is in partnership with our friends at Bike New York. Class space is limited. Please register HERE.
