Hurricane Run 5K and Fun Run

DESCRIPTION

Registration limit:

Due to the need to provide adequate space for social distancing, registration for in person participation will be limited to 300.

Course:

Beautifully flat certified 5K (AL13028JD) course that starts and finishes at the Dauphin Island Estuarium on the east end of Dauphin Island and winds through the island's residential neighborhoods. Fun Run approximately ½ mile.

Packet Pick-up and Late Registration:

Packet pick-up and late registration will be available on Friday, September 11, from 12 until 5:30 PM at PCP office at 358 Morgan Ave. Packet Pick-up and race day registration at the Sea Lab from 6:45 - 7:50 AM

Virtual Participation:

If you can't make it to the race site Saturday morning, you now have the option to participate virtually.  When you sign up for the Hurricane Run, select "Virtual" as your style, select "pick-up" or "mail it" as your delivery method.  You will get a race shirt and race bib - your mission will be to run/walk a 5K within one week and report your results to us.

Awards (for in person participants):

5K: Top 3 Overall male and female, and top male and female Masters, Grandmasters, Senior Grandmasters, and Race Walkers. Top 3 male and female in age groups: 9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, and 80-99.

Fun Run: Top 3 overall boy and girl, top 3 boys and girls in age groups: 6 & under, 7-9, and 10-12

Technical Tee Shirts:

Race participants will receive short sleeved moisture management tee shirts. Shirts will be sized for men and women. Tee shirts available on race day while supplies last. Shirts will not be reordered after the race.

Post-race:

Refreshments and awards after the race.

Covid-19 considerations:

Due to the current Covid-19 situation, the Port City Pacers are making the following modifications to our normal race routine:

  • All participants, volunteers, spectators, and race officials are asked and expected to wear face coverings (masks) and to social distance as much as possible during this event.  
  • Participants may remove their masks during the race, but are ask to replace their mask after they have finished the race.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available 
  • There will be staggered start times to allow for social distancing
  • No contact awards presentation - Winners will be announced and winners will pick-up their awards from the awards table.
