Join us for our annual spring conference to learn how we are transforming care and improving the quality of health care for our community.

AUDIENCE:

We invite all community members from Jackson County to attend, including medical, behavioral and dental health providers; health care administrators and office staff; pharmacists; social service professionals; educators; community leaders; Jackson Care Connect members; legislators; and health care advocates.

PROGRAM

Speakers:

  • KEYNOTE ADDRESS: How Health Equity Impacts the Triple Aim SPEAKER: Dr. Alisha Moreland-Capuia, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, OHSU School of Medicine; Executive Director, OHSU Avel Gordley Center for Healing

    Dr. Alisha Moreland-Capuia graduated from Stanford University in 2002 with a B.S. in biological sciences and a minor in urban studies. She earned her doctor of medicine from the George Washington University School of Medicine in 2007. Dr. Alisha completed four years of psychiatry residency and an addiction fellowship at Oregon Health and Science University. She is a double board certified addiction psychiatrist who has facilitated systems change through community education/ training/ engagement and influencing policy that impacts youth.

    Dr. Alisha has worked with judges, parole officers, school teachers, community members and faith-based institutions training in the areas of cultural responsivity, brain development and trauma-informed approaches and practices.

  • Diana Alfaro Soto - One Member's Story: Value of Connections Diana is a Jackson Care Connect Community Advisory Council member

Panel Discussions:

  • Critical Factors for Resilience Leaders in education, social services and community justice will discuss local challenges and share insights on how we can work together to overcome barriers and improve the health of our community. Panel members are: -Jonathan Chavez Baez, SOU Latino Programs -Elizabeth Hazelwood, Compass House -Eric Guyer, Jackson County Criminal Justice -Kathy Keesee, Unete, Center for Farm Worker and Immigrant Advocacy -Chad McComas, Rogue Retreat -Lisa O’Connor, Family Nurturing Center

  • Pain, Opioids and Addiction Experts in behavioral health will discuss innovative approaches to supporting those suffering from pain, opioid use disorder or addiction. Their collective passion for serving this population, combined with their deep knowledge and professional expertise, ensures this will be a robust discussion. Panel members are: -Renee Dodge, Oasis Center -John Mahan, MD, Jackson County Mental Health -Caryn McClane, Addictions Recovery Center -Alisha Moreland-Capuia, MD, OHSU -Jim Shames, MD, Jackson County Health & Human Services -Heather Starbird, QMHP, La Clinica -Dan Weiner, DO, Rogue Community Health
