Kaiwi Coast Run & Walk

DESCRIPTION

Experience the natural beauty of the scenic Kaiwi Coast at your own pace!

The Kaiwi Coast Run & Walk is the only sanctioned pedestrian race on O’ahu that allows complete closure of the road between the start line at Sandy Beach Park and the entrance of Hanauma Bay.

On Sunday, November 24, 2019, this journey begins at approximately 6:45 a.m. with the rising of the sun over the Kaiwi Channel, a Hawaiian oli (chant) and the blowing of the pu (conch shell horn). Participants start at Awawamalu (Sandy Beach Park) and continue around the Kaiwi Coast, passing Halona Blow Hole and Hanauma Bay, following Kalanianaole Hwy into Hawaii Kai and finishing just under 4 miles later at the Hui Nalu Canoe Club halau on the shores of Maunalua Bay.

Limited to 3,000 participants! Participants receive a souvenir glass fishing float, race t-shirt, and goodie bag. We do our best, but the T-shirt size not guaranteed. Goodie bag items are donations and are available at packet pickup while supplies last. At the finish line there are refreshments, an awards ceremony and the opportunity to meet community organizations sharing their projects.

Proceeds benefit Hui Nalu Canoe Club programs and support the mission of the Ka Iwi Coalition, Livable Hawaii Kai Hui, and other Maunalua community groups. Hui Nalu Canoe Club is a 501c3 nonprofit organization.
