Kanata Race Day 2017

DESCRIPTION

10K, 5K, and 1K races & Tot Trot

Kanata Race Day is a community fun run open to all ages.

Proceeds from the event support the enhancements of the Richcraft RecreationComplex Kanata and recreation within the community.

Featuring a 10K, 5K, 1K and 200m Tot Trot, the race is held at the Richcraft Recreation Complex Kanata (RRCK) and is run through the forested area of the Goulborn Forced Road before winding its way along residential streets and for those on the 10K course back along Terry Fox Drive.

Organized by Councillor Marianne Wilkinson the 2017 race is the 9th year and one of a number of fund raising initiatives undertaken by the Councillor and the Kanata North Recreation Centre Inc. All proceeds support the enhancement of the Richcraft Recreation Complex-Kanata (RRCK) and its programming.

The original facility design called for just a 6-lane swimming pool and a small skateboard park. Fundraising has supported the addition of 2 swim lanes thus creating an 8-lane pool suitable to meet the aquatic recreation needs of Kanata and West Carleton residents. The larger pool is now home to various swim clubs and teams, offers more swim lessons, and more opportunities for adult fitness swimming. Fundraising has also expanded the expanded skateboard park, which now serves a large child, youth and adult population. Without your support, these worthwhile additions would not be possible.

While the RRCK is fully built and operating, we are still in need of fund raising dollars to meet our financial commitments to this facility. Also, programming in the wooded March Highlands surrounding the facility is offered through a unique Junior Ranger program initiated byMarianne Wilkinson.
