The Lacrosse Legends program is designed by Atticus Lacrosse to introduce 1st-6th graders to the fundamentals of lacrosse in a structured, engaging, and age-appropriate environment. Each Saturday morning, players will participate in skill-building drills, fun games, and scrimmages. Sessions run from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM and are divided into three age groups: 1st/2nd grade, 3rd/4th grade, and 5th/6th grade.
Week 1: Introduction to Lacrosse
Equipment basics: how to hold a stick, scoop ground balls, and cradle.
Ice-breaker activities to foster camaraderie.
Week 2: Passing and Catching Fundamentals
Proper hand placement and form.
Short passing games to build confidence.
Week 3: Ground Balls and Cradling
Techniques for scooping and controlling the ball.
Emphasis on cradling while moving.
Week 4: Shooting Techniques
Basic shooting mechanics.
Accuracy-focused drills.
Week 5: Defensive Skills
Introduction to proper defensive positioning.
Stick checks and footwork basics.
Week 6: Dodging and Movement
Split dodge, roll dodge, and change-of-direction drills.
Importance of field awareness.
Week 7: Team Concepts
Introduction to passing plays and spacing.
Encouraging communication on the field.
Week 8: Game Situations
Emphasis on positioning during offense and defense.
Small-sided scrimmages with guided coaching.
Week 9: Review and Reinforcement
