Mad-Eye Moody 5k

DESCRIPTION

Hogwarts Running Club is pleased to present our first event of 2017:

The Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody Constant Vigilance 5k!

Our first medal of 2017 honors one of the most beloved characters in the Wizarding World...Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody and features a MOVING eye-ball medal! Your registration includes this awesome 3" medal, custom sublimated ribbon, and your own personalized digital bib!

Moody never let his injuries stop him. Moody fought in both the First and Second Wizarding Wars and captured many dark witches and wizards, but at a cost. He lost a leg, an eye and part of his nose in carrying out his duties as an Auror for the Ministry of Magic. It is in this spirit, we are thrilled to announce that proceeds from this event will go to support the Limbs for Life Foundation. A typical prosthetic leg can cost tens of thousands of dollars and many insurance companies will only pay for ONE prosthetic leg in a lifetime. But like anything, these legs wear out overtime. You won't be able to wear the same pair of shoes for your entire life! Limbs for Life provides free prosthetic legs to those who cannot afford them or who have used up what insurance or their state health agencies can provide. This incredible organization utilizes gently-used prosthetic legs and parts in conjunction with prosthetic clinics and skilled clinicians nationwide to provide freedom and mobility to hundreds of amputees every year. Please visit limbsforlife.org to learn more about what your donation will accomplish!

And don't forget to get your event shirt! Since Mad-Eye was, for all intents and purposes, a super-hero, we figured a comic-book-inspired event shirt was appropriate! All proceeds from the event shirts will also go to Limbs for Life. You can get your shirt at: www.booster.com/constant-vigilance

The suggested run date for this event is Thursday, February 2nd...a day when another must exercise constant vigilance in performance of their duties...Groundhog's Day! Remember, this is only a fun suggestion. You are welcome to complete your 5k whenever you want! All of the medals will be mailed on Monday, February 13th!
