PEERS Network is a professional non-profit 501(c)(3) group founded by local entrepreneurs whose aim is to give back to the San Diego Community.
PEERS Network was established in 2009 to bring entrepreneurs and executives from across a variety of industries together with a common goal: to give back.Today, our members include some of the most exceptional business and community leaders in the Southern California area. By leveraging our diverse spectrum of expertise, connections and resources, we work to improve the quality of life in our community by philanthropic engagement and hands-on involvement.PEERS Members strive also to inspire a culture of entrepreneurship and innovative thinking by providing mentorship for one another and for community members.Some of the missions and organizations the PEERS Network has supported are the following:
The Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) is a world leader in helping individuals with physical challenges get involved – and stay involved – in sports. CAF believes that participation in sports at any level increases self-esteem, encourages independence and enhances quality of life. CAF recently celebrated its 20th anniversary. Since 1994, more than $47 million has been raised and more than 8,200 funding requests from challenged athletes in all 50 states and dozens of countries have been satisfied. Additionally, CAF’s outreach efforts reach another 80,000 individuals each year. For 20 years, CAF has touched thousands of lives, in part by sharing the stories of our history, life-changing events, and the inspirational journeys of the challenged athletes who we support. CAF and its athletes have been featured in a range of media outlets including: TODAY, The Oprah Show, Dateline, Nightline, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and many more.
A Reason To Survive (ARTS) an organization dedicated to providing, supporting and advocating for creative arts programs that Heal, Inspire, and Empower youth facing adversity. ARTS believes that all youth deserve the opportunity to succeed along a healthy life path, regardless of the mental, physical or socio-economic challenges they face. Through a sequential program model of therapeutic arts, arts education, creative life and career experiences, ARTS has served 52,000 youth ages 5-23 years since 2001.
Aspiring Philanthropist Program: Social entrepreneurs are becoming more common as nonprofit leaders strive to solve the pressing needs of society. The PEERS Network recognizes that these leaders need access to other entrepreneurs to think with and learn from as they continue to work toward addressing social challenges. To support nonprofit leaders operating as social entrepreneurs in San Diego County, The PEERS Network has partnered with the Fieldstone Foundation to create the Aspiring Philanthropist Program. This program offers an opportunity for a nonprofit executive director to work with an executive coach, attend the nonprofit schools at either Stanford or Harvard and work with a mentoring group of PEERS members for one year.
Outdoor Outreach's mission is to empower at-risk and underprivileged youth to make positive lasting changes in their lives through comprehensive outdoor programming. We use outdoor activities to provide youth with the support, resources and opportunities they need to become successful adults.Boys to Men gives boys a community of mentors and role models! Boys to Men’s school mentoring program is a community based mentoring model focused on middle school and high school boys at risk of academic failure. Every week groups of dedicated Boys to Men mentors show up at middle schools and high schools to give boys a community of mentors who listen, encourage and believe in them. This approach is drawing high praise from school principals, administrators and teachers for its documented ability to improve boy’s grades, reduce discipline issues and keep boys from dropping out of school.
Just In Time (JIT) mobilizes the community to provide transitioning foster youth with opportunities for self-sufficiency through emergency support, essential resources, and caring personal guidance at critical junctures on their path to independence. The combination of resources and relationships provides a reliable extended family and leads to dramatically different outcomes for the over 500 JIT participants each year.
