September 7th Competition

In preparation for the multiple dance conventions and dance competitions happening this fall, we wanted to host a country swing competition to give dances an opportunity to practice and get accustomed to them. Many dancers have never competed before. This competition is to give you the experience to help you go into Utah Dance Fest and Spooky Swing with confidence. 

SCHEUDLE:

1pm: Registration Opens

1:30: Competitors Meeting

1:45: Registration Closes/Judges Meeting

2pm: Competition Starts

11pm: Est. Time For Prizes

11:15: Social Dancing Starts

Competitions Include

-Lower Level Country Swing: Strictly (Choose Your Partner)

-Upper Level Country Swing: Strictly

-Lower Level Country Swing: Jack and Jill (Random Partner)

-Upper Level Country Swing: Jack and Jill 

-Lower Level Line Dance

-Upper Level Line Dance

All tickets include entry into the social dancing following the competition.

Judging Criteria

1. Timing (Quick Quick Slow or 1-Step)

2. Technique (Footword, Body Mechanics, Body Leading Vs. Pulling, Settle, Creating Stretch)

3. Teamwork (How well you're dancing WITH your partner)

4. Content (Variety of Moves, Changing Your Styling)

5. Showmanship (You look excited to be there, confidence, your overall energy etc)

RULES

-Lifts are ONLY allowed in the Upper Level STRICTLY division. 

-If you are competing with an upper level partner but you are a lower level dancer you must compete at the upper level 

-If you are competing both Strictly and Jack and Jill BOTH need to be competed at the same level

-No more than 16 counts in one slot. More than 16 you may be dequalified

When buying Strictly tickets, only 1 partner needs to buy the ticket. (1 Ticket/Partnership)
