We’ll be hosting a ride, and in turn, asking you to donate your gently (or un-) used kits for the local NICA chapter (Norcal High School Cycling League). There’s some sartorial burden to our hobby; a lot of our closets are often laden with kits that we don’t wear, but at the same time, we don’t get rid of. We’ve all got them—the in-case-of-emergency kits, the ones that just didn’t fit right, the ones we forgot to return. And when we see a shiny new kit that we want, that very same lump of unused gear is our Tell-Tale-Heart, thumping with guilt.

Meanwhile, there’s plenty of teens that have the opposite problem—empty closets, and they’re just as eager as us to get on their bikes and shred. So, let’s come together as a community and make cycling more accessible to the younger generation. In addition to some expiation through donation, we’re planning to have a rather large amount of fun on bikes on the 28th. Waffles (yes, studded with caramelized chunks of pearl sugar) will be made and distributed before the ride. Post-ride beers from MCBC and fried chicken from Bungalow 44 will be available after the ride. The raffle itself is a pretty convincing reason to make some space in your closet.

Rider responsibilities:

• If you or a friend would like to register on site, please show up at 8:15.

• Please show up at 8:30AM to drop off your donations, eat waffles, and fill your bottles with Osmo. The ride will start at 9AM.

• Each usable donation of a jersey and/or bib will get you a raffle ticket.

• Please make sure that the kits you’re donating are clean and in good condition, with plenty of life left. Raffle tickets will not be exchanged for see-through bibs.

• Men’s XS-MD kits are in high demand and low supply!

• There will be a few bonus stops on the ride that will get you yet more raffle tickets.

• Bring your road bike. Or your all road/gravel bike. Probably not ideal on a mountain bike, but the best part is, you get to make your own route.

• We’ll have four raffle-stops; design your own ride around as many or as few as you want. The stops will be: at Phoenix Lake (along the dam & Shaver Grade), the dirt parking lot at the baseball diamond in Nicasio (across from the church), the BoFax/Sisters/Bolinas Ridge intersection, and the Snack Bar at Parkside in Stinson. Raffle tickets may be given out for subjectively-awesome routes.

• The BoFax and Nicasio stops will be staffed with a volunteer until 12PM, and the Stinson stop will have a volunteer until 12:30PM. The Nicasio stop is sponsored by Osmo; refill your bottles with some Active Hydration there. Please take a selfie/bike selfie at the Phoenix Lake stop, with no time cutoff, for your raffle ticket once you have returned to Studio Velo.
