Use Your Feet for Freedom 5K 2017

DESCRIPTION

It is a difficult thing to realize that slavery is still happening in this world. It is happening in other countries, as well as right here in the United States. It is happening in the form of human trafficking, domestic servitude, unpaid labor and sexual exploitation.

The statistics with regards to human traffficking are sobering, but there are ways everyone can help fight this tragedy. On Saturday May 6th, 2017, The Palo Alto Vineyard Church is hosting a 5k, the proceeds of which will be given to an awesome organization that is helping local survivors of human trafficking, Freedom House freedomhousesf.org

Freedom House brings hope, restoration and a new life to victims who want to rebuild their lives after escaping from their oppressors. In 2010, Freedom House opened The Monarch, the first safe home and long-term aftercare program of its kind devoted to adult female survivors of human trafficking in Northern California. The Nest, its home and aftercare program for girls ages 12 to 17, opened last year. For more information about Freedom House, please visit www.FreedomHouseSF.org.

With our first 5K in 2013, we were able to raise $6,600 to help the victims of human trafficking. In 2014, we were able to raise over $7200. At our last 5K, we raised $12,245 to help the victims of human trafficking.

Please join us on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 8:00am at Mitchell Park in Palo Alto. We are hoping to raise even more money this year and more awareness!

We can't provide any refunds. Our planning of the event is based on the number of people who register. Just know that your money is going to an awesome cause.
