Lauren McGuire

Ottawa born, Lauren McGuire was a world cup racer representing Canada in long track speed skating for the 3000m, 5000m, 1500m and women’s Team Pursuit events. She developed girls’ youth mentorship programs in Calgary with Winsport to encourage leadership and empowerment through sport. After retiring from sport, Lauren embarked on her next journey completing her MBA at Queen’s Smith School of Business in Kingston, ON. She is keeping busy launching her Community Helpers outreach platform to connect those at-risk and in need to neighbours able to help during the COVID-19 crisis and beyond. Her story goes deeper than that. In 2009 her father was diagnosed with ALS and she was caregiving and training full-time as a national team athlete. Lauren McGuire will join us as our keynote speaker to discuss resilience in times of difficulties and the power of mindsets to empower yourself and those around you.
