DESCRIPTION

Join us for the Erudite Tysons Chess Tournament!

Players can choose to participate in the Beginner section, Under 1300 section, or Open section. Each section has its own rules and requirements, so please read the descriptions carefully before registering.

Pairings
This is a swiss pairing tournament. 

 

Parking
Parking is free and is available on either side of the building. 

 

Arrival
Please arrive promptly at 8am for player check-in. If you are playing in a rated section, please have USCF membership with you. 
The tournament venue is on the first floor of the building, and can be accessed through entrances on either side. 

 

Entry Fees

  • Beginner:
    March 26 - April 17 $30
    April 18 - May 14    $35
    May 15 - May 18     $40

 

  • Under 1300:
    March 26 - April 17 $35
    April 18 - May 14    $40
    May 15 - May 18     $45

 

  • Open:
    March 26 - April 17 $45
    April 18 - May 14    $50
    May 15 - May 18     $55

 

Tournament schedule

8am: Player check-in, same day registration, guest arrival 

9am: First round begins 

10am: Second round begins 

11am: Third round begins 

12pm: Lunch + optional bughouse play 

1:30pm: Fourth round begins 

2:30pm: Fifth round begins 

4pm: Award ceremony 

 

Beginner section

  • Ages 5-12 
  • Notations not required 
  • Time control 30+0 
  • The beginner section is unrated 

All players in the beginner section will recieve participation medals, and first, second and third place will be awarded trophies. 

 

Under 1300 section

  • USCF membership required 
  • Any age
  • Rating must be under 1300 to participate 
  • Notations required 
  • All games in the under 1300 section are rated 
  • Time control 30+0 

All players in the under 1300 section will recieve participation medals, third place will be awarded $30, second place $50, and first place $70 

 

Open section

  • USCF membership required 
  • Any age
  • Rating must be over 1300 to participate 
  • Notations required 
  • All games in the open section are rated 
  • Time control 30+0 

All players in the open section will recieve participation medals, third place will be awarded $50, second place $75, and first place $100
