Fiestas Fridas - the 70th anniversary of when Frida got her wings

DESCRIPTION

The day she was finally free 7/13/54!

We will dress in muerto face with flowers in our hair.

We will welcome her to bring her butterfly wings down and wrap them around us in honor of her getting her wings!

Food, FriDranks by Alex Heyman, Face painting by Syd Inman.

Community members are invited to participate by bringing a suitcase altar. This can celebrate Frida getting her wings or it can celebrate some release that you have had in your life where you have received your wings. (We have added examples of suitcase altars in the photo section.)

You may build your altar inside a small box all the way up to a suitcase. You will be able to display your suitcase altar at our event and be able to share about your FRIDArt should you like.

At 9 pm we will watch the Original FRIDAcumentary from 1966 filmed by two San Franciscans, Karen and David Crommie. You will learn about Fridas love affair with San Francisco and how the Crommies came to make this movie. Please bring pillows or pad to sit on for movie. Chairs provided for persons with disabilities.

We will rejoice in the love of our Santa Frida!
