The Great Pyrenees Charity Golf Tournament is an annual event that brings together golf enthusiasts, community members, and businesses for a day of friendly competition and philanthropy. Our Charity Golf Tournament has grown from a small local course in 2019 with 60 golfers raising $5000 to our 2023 tournament with 90 golfers raising a little over $17,000. We have grown each year but couldn’t do this without Sponsors & Donors! The tournament will be held on August 26, 2024 at Edgewood Country Club, located in Pittsburgh Pa. Our goal is to raise funds to support The Great Pyrenees Club of Western Pa.
The GPCWP is an all-volunteer, foster-based 501c3 organization.
Our Mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome Great Pyrenees that are owner-surrenders or rescues from local shelters, and to promote responsible pet ownership.
Great Pyrenees are our main focus but we also rescue Pyr-mixes and other giant breeds.
We rely solely on donations and fundraisers.
All proceeds go directly to the care of the dogs we have in rescue. This year we rescued several Dogs that required more extensive medical care, and costs have gone as high as $8,000 for medical needs alone - bigger dogs, bigger vet bills. All care is paid for by the GPCWP, including food, vet care and training when necessary. All dogs are thoroughly vetted and evaluated before being placed for adoption. Average cost is $500-$600 per dog. Rescuing giant breeds comes with its own set of challenges: Their furry coats and giant size (averaging 110 lbs. for female, 125 lbs. for male) can be drawbacks. Finding appropriate fosters and adopters is not always easy.
This Years Tournament will include lunch, golf with a cart, snacks and beverages on the course and dinner following tournament. There will be skill contest, raffle prizes, golfer goody bags & shirts, registration games and tournament prizes.
