La Jolla Modernism TOUR
Saturday, October 5, 2024 from 10:00am - 3:00pm

Calling all architecture enthusiasts, design devotees, and history buffs! Don’t miss out on a one-day tour that offers a unique opportunity to explore the hidden gems of modernist architecture in La Jolla. This one-day tour will grant you access throughout the day to a curated selection of historic modernist private homes, providing a rare glimpse into their design and history. Join us for a day filled with architectural marvels and fascinating insights into La Jolla’s modernist heritage.

La Jolla has been fortunate to have gained a collection of early mid-century modern buildings by pioneering modernist architects such as Irving Gill, Rudolph Schindler, Louis Kahn, and Richard Neutra. The village also served as the creative hub for top MCM architects like Homer Delawie, Lloyd Ruocco, Kendrick Bangs Kellogg, Henry Hester, Sim Bruce Richards, Russell Forester, and Frederick Liebhardt, who crafted stunning mid-century modern homes and commercial structures. Today, these architectural gems have been rediscovered and lovingly restored by new owners who have embraced and preserved this once-forgotten style. Many of these homes have now been designated as San Diego landmarks, ensuring their protection for generations to come. The tour is organized to showcase these iconic examples of modernism, with proceeds going towards supporting the La Jolla Historical Society.

With limited capacity, tickets for this event are expected to sell out quickly. Reserve your spot TODAY to be part of this incredible experience.
