March for Concussion 2019

DESCRIPTION

The University of Ottawa Brain and Mind Research Institute (uOBMRI) invites you to the second annual March for Concussion event, an educational fundraiser focused on raising awareness and funds to improve the lives and care of concussion patients.

Major challenges for patients include timely access to care, predicting whether injury will lead to substantial deficits, and under-standing of when activity can be resumed. In order to combat these challenges face-on, the uOBMRI facilitates and funds an innovative network of researchers and projects and your support is needed to help us make a change.

Join us March 30, 2019 to show your support for our second annual March for Concussion!

This year’s line up includes a keynote address from Claire Smith, an author, speaker and former Olympic equestrian who sustained a severe traumatic brain injury in 1997. Dr. Blaine Hoshizaki, Director of the uOttawa Neurotrauma Impact Science Lab, will also be presenting on his work involving protection measures for brain trauma. Finally, Dr. Shawn Marshall will be introducing a research initiative that developed from the uOBMRI and March for Concussion campaign, the Post Concussion Research Consortium (PCRC).
