Learn how to experience food as a pleasure, from where it is first produced, to transforming ingredients into nourishing food, and to enjoying its taste.
The two day experience will be led by life coach and mindfulness expert Cliona Byrne. Cliona’s passion and motivations for mindful eating will guide you through a life-changing journey as you discover how mindfulness can transform your relationship with food. Improve your life with mindfulness for your overall wellbeing through your time with Cliona. Learn the meaning and practice of mindfulness, its benefits, how it relates to our eating, and how you can transform your relationship with food. You will also learn how to connect your mind and body through the ancient art of meditation.
Mindful eating well teach you how you never need to diet again, listen to your body, and consume the right foods for you.Enhance your mind on this retreat by experiencing both self-discovery and the adventure of how food comes into our lives. During the retreat a focus will also be placed on the birth of food through a farm walk which will include the collection of fresh eggs. Here we will explore the origin of our food and how this can make us more conscious of what we buy and consume.
Become conscious of how making food help us to connect with what we eat, be part of the process, and awaken all of our senses through the art of making bread. This make it yourself experience will be held by Niamh Byrne, an expert in Irish bread making. Be introduced to Irish traditional as Niamh guides you on how to make traditional Irish soda bread and Irish scones.
But where would Irish bread be without Irish butter? Ireland is famous for our delicate and creamy butter. Through a demonstration full of the Irish style of chat, our storyteller Joe Byrne will show you how to make your own butter. A perfect accompaniment to go with your freshly made bread. Joe will immerse you into the Irish practice of combining food collection and creation with folklore.
From your two day food adventure you will gain the ability to eat and create food in a mindful way to benefit your overall wellness. You will understand your own eating habits and how you can eat in a healthy way for your mind and body. Your new experiences will include tasting our homemade and locally sourced foods from Wicklow and other surrounding areas, the joys of farm life, and to make your own Irish bread and butter.
Your stay will be at Abhainn Ri luxury accommodation in Co. Wicklow. Abhainn Ri is a place of tranquility with stunning views overlooking lakes and mountains. You will be able to choose whether you stay in our cottages or farmhouse. The demonstrations and meals will take place in the old Victorian farmhouse at Abhainn ri which has been in the Byrne family for six generations. Alongside two nights of accommodation, the retreat will include two breakfasts and two lunches made from locally sourced ingredients.
