DESCRIPTION

From his early years, playing blues on Chicago's South Side, to his present multi-faceted career based out of northern Vermont, Paul Asbell has earned an underground reputation as a musician's musician. Acoustic Guitar magazine described him as follows: ....veteran guitarist finger-picks his way through a stylistically diverse collection of tunes plucked from the Great American musical canon and plays with finesse, imagination and humor.

Guitar Player magazine sited Paul for "exploring a spectrum of styles. With steady hands and a relaxed sense of swing, he tackles bouncy ragtime fingering, crisp flatpicking, and lush, jazzy chording with equal aplomb."

Conjuring a unique but universal language from that most ubiquitous of instruments, the acoustic guitar, Tony McManus has both extended and transcended the parameters of contemporary Celtic music. Ranked by peers and predecessors alike alongside the guitar world’s all-time greats, his fiendishly dexterous, dazzlingly original playing draws on traditions from the entire Celtic diaspora – Scotland, Ireland, Brittany, Galicia, Asturias, Cape Breton, Quebec.  McManus is increasingly being acknowledged also as a pioneering figure in bridging the realms of Celtic music and other guitar genres.

Mastering the fingerboard in altered tunings
