Acclaimed indie duo Wonderlick—featuring members of alt-rock cult favorites Too Much Joy—bring their uniquely intimate, often revelatory house-show-style performance to Blue Island Brewery for one special night. The performance starts at 7:00 PM. Tickets are just $15.
Fresh off the release of their new album, Wonderlick Goes to War, the band is transforming small spaces into emotional arenas. Described by one reviewer as “MTV Unplugged meets a micro-brew fermenter,” the shows are part acoustic concert, part philosophical salon, and part group therapy—with rhythm tracks, killer hooks, and questions drawn at random from the audience every few songs.
What to Expect:
“No two shows are alike,” says lyricist Tim Quirk. “Someone might ask about a breakup, or about Kafka. The show shifts depending on what people bring to it.”
The band’s new album, Wonderlick Goes to War, has been called “catchy as hell” and “an antidote to digital despair.” Produced by Dave Trumfio (Wilco, Built to Spill, Pulsars), the record explores the tension between personal struggle and global absurdity—with pounding drums, shimmering synths, and a defiant sense of purpose. As the band puts it, they’re fighting authoritarianism “one house show at a time.”
