Writing Workshop at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery

6000 Santa Monica Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90038, USA

DESCRIPTION

Spend your Sunday afternoon creating a fresh piece of written work, dismantling your inner critic, and sharing your words with a group of like-minded writers, all from one of Hollywood's most beloved locations.

Hosted by Gateless-trained creative writing teacher and author Charlotte Coplin, Gateless is a style of writing based on a combination of Zen philosophy and brain science. Developed by author Suzanne Kingsbury in 2008, it is all about overcoming your inner critic and focusing on the positives within your written work.

By allowing the facilitator to create a safe container for the work and by following a specific set of guidelines during the writing salon, the aim of the workshop is to begin to dismantle your inner critic and, in turn, free your writing strengths to rise and your authentic voice to be heard.

It may sound simple, but spending an afternoon writing from a Gateless place is a pretty profound act in our world of excessive critique. In attending this workshop, expect an eye-opening, enjoyable afternoon that will leave your confidence rising and your words flowing.

Writers of all levels are welcome. All you need to bring is yourself and something to write with (anything from a basic notepad to a laptop will do). Please be on time and let the teacher know if you need to leave early. There is free parking available: at the time of arrival, please check in with the security booth, who will direct you to the parking lot.
