It would be easy to include any of the World Marathon Majors on this bucket list, but going with the predictable isn’t any fun. Instead we looked for exceptional domestic and international marathons that you’ll want to run at least once in your life. Check these out!
- St. Jude Rock ‘n’ Roll Nashville Marathon
Get a one-of-a-kind tour of Nashville when you #RunMusicCity. The race begins in front of the honky tonks on Lower Broadway and ends with a festival in Nissan Stadium, home of the Tennessee Titans. And don’t forget the free night-time headliner concert at Bridgestone Arena. - Great Wall Marathon
Your path to greatness begins with 5,146 steps. Founded in 1998 by Albatros Travel’s founder Søren Rasmussen, 2,500 runners from over 50 nations participate each year. Challenges include an elevation change of 250 feet and stairs that range from 3” to 18” deep, but running on a cultural and historical landmark is worth it. - Jackson Hole Marathon
Go for a run surrounded by autumn colors, cool temperatures, and some of the most stunning scenery in the United States. Runners navigate a flat point-to-point course from Jackson to the base of the Jackson Hole ski resort. After the race, swap stories over a pint at the Mangy Moose. - Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon
Touted as The Most Beautiful Urban Marathon in America®, this race starts in downtown Minneapolis and finishes at the state capitol in St. Paul. In addition to a beautiful course, participants receive a virtual ‘goodie bag’ with exclusive deals and promotions and a Brooks® long-sleeve technical shirt made just for finishers. - Athens Marathon
You may not be an Olympian, but you can run where they have. This race begins, appropriately in the town of Marathon, and finishes at the Panathinaikon Stadium, the site of the first Modern Olympic Games in 1896.
