5 Must-Run Spring Races

KEYS100
Florida Keys, Florida
The Florida Keys is a spectacular and laid-back sub-tropical paradise, surrounded by the turquoise waters of the Atlantic Ocean and Florida Bay/Gulf of Mexico. Run from Key Largo (for the 100-miler) or Marathon (for the 50-miler) all the way to Key West. There is also a six-runner, 100-mile team relay race. Eleven aid stations at 10-mile intervals and coolers with ice and water at 5-mile intervals make sure runners stay healthy and hydrated.

Soldier Field 10 Mile
Chicago, Illinois
Live out your gridiron dreams by taking the field at the 13th running of the Fleet Feet Sports Soldier Field 10 Mile. According to the website, this year’s race will include ‘the most memorable finish on the 50-yard line to date.’ The loop course starts just outside Soldier Field and brings runners back to Soldier Field via the Lakefront Path. At the 50-yard line runners receive a Memorial Day-themed finisher medal presented by active servicemen and women.

BolderBOULDER 10K
Boulder, Colorado
Locally owned and operated for almost 40 years, this race has grown to become one of the largest and most highly acclaimed 10K’s in the world. On Memorial Day, runners of every age and level start at the foot of the Rocky Mountains to tackle a peak elevation of about 5,391 feet (around Mile 4 at the top of Casey Hill). Before the race, tribute is paid to the service men and women who bravely sacrificed for our freedom.

DeCelle Memorial Lake Tahoe Relay
Lake Tahoe, California
Named in honor of Robert DeCelle, Sr. who passed away almost 10 years ago, this 72-mile relay race circumnavigates Lake Tahoe. Teams of seven run 8- to 12-mile legs, with some pretty serious elevation gain (more than 4,000 feet!). The race has no sponsors and all proceeds support high school and youth running programs in California and Nevada. So assemble a team, give it a cool name, and come experience this unique race.

Echo Valley Trail Runs
Chelan, Washington
Set in the wine country of Washington state, Echo Valley offers a spectacular trail run that will take you past spectacular views on smooth, non-technical single-track trails in Chelan. And this year’s Echo Valley event is part of the 2016 Paul Mitchell XTERRA Trail Run Series, which means for every entrant in the race, Paul Mitchell will plant a tree in a critically de-forested area.
