If you’re familiar with the triathlon community, you’ve likely heard of, or come across USA Triathlon (USAT). USA Triathlon is the national governing body for the multisport disciplines of triathlon, duathlon, aquathlon, and winter triathlon in the United States. Having a USAT sanction for your triathlon is kind of a big deal. With that level of clout, event organizers have an additional level of responsibility to follow the organization’s sanctioned rules.
As with any event, there are a lot of logistics the event organizer must manage to ensure everything runs smoothly. From an easy registration to making sure everyone has a valid USAT membership, providing the right waivers, and post-event reporting, you’ve got your hands full.
This is why we’re so excited to announce our integration with USA Triathlon to provide a seamless registration and event management experience for both triathletes and event organizers on Events.com. To sum it up, this integration allows event organizers to create and manage USAT-sanctioned events while also giving triathletes who are USAT members the ability to validate and purchase memberships during registration.
How Does the Integration Work?
To enable the integration, simply go to the “Event Settings” tab and select the “USA Triathlon” option under “Pre-Registration Setup.” After enabled, it will require you to put in your USA Triathlon Event ID #, which will need to be set up in advance through USAT. The default setting will add USAT verification to each of your registration or ticket types. What Do My Athletes See During Registration?
Once enabled, it will require all attendees who register for your event to have an annual USAT membership or purchase a membership during their registration on Events.com.
The integration also includes a validation feature for participants to verify their member number. After a triathlete has validated their membership, Events.com sends USAT their gender, last name, and date of birth, which must exactly match the information they entered upon registration. In short, this provides an added level of authentication to the registration process.
If an attendee does not have a valid membership, they can now easily purchase it in their registration flow with just a few clicks.
We’ve also created enhanced registration reporting with additional columns for each athlete’s USAT membership number and status (valid or invalid).
